Be more generous

I think I'm a fairly generous person. I have many faults and sometimes I definitely find myself being a little tight with money - something I don't like and something I'm sure has a lot to do with being on a fairly strict budget most of the time (whatever one of those is) - but overall I think I'm a pretty generous person?

However, of course everyone can always be that little bit more generous than they already are (probably). And so I have decided to do just that. Be a little more generous.

I'm sure that there are many, many ways in which I can express this. However, I have decided to embrace this new found (extra) generosity by giving more money to those in need. Now I don't have a great deal of money but I am probably earning more money now than I ever have done before and so I can definitely spare a few pounds a month to good causes.

And there are plenty of good great causes out there. However, I have decided that I will give what little money I can to the homeless and needy that I see on the streets of London. I have decided to do this for two reasons. 1. I'm not going to go on a political rant but for whatever reason (the Tories!) there appears to be even more people than ever, who are struggling to put food on the table or to even have a table in the first place, but also 2. because of the immediacy of the giving. I can give it to them straight into their hands and hopefully make - although probably quite small - a direct impact.

Therefore, what I aim to do is this: I will attempt to give some loose change to every homeless person that I see on the street (which might be quite difficult as I see many! everyday!). No matter what cobweb of lies they're spinning me and no matter what they look like, even if they don't always appear to be homeless and sometimes even look better dressed than I am.

Anyway. I'm not normally much of one for New Year's Resolutions but I feel like this is a pretty good cause that will help both me and hopefully plenty of others (in a small but hopefully significant way).

& Happy New Year everybody.
